Lampworking, also called flameworking,
is an ancient technique in which glass rods are melted and
wound around a steel rod
(called a mandrel). The term "lampworking" comes
from ancient times, when cultures, such as the Egyptians, used
oil lamps to heat their glass.
My beads are created using Moretti,
Lauchsa, and/or Keugler glass rods and are made using an
oxygen/propane torch. I
use 1/16" and 3/32" diameter rods.
Each bead is created one-at-a-time, and is properly annealed
in a digitally controlled kiln to insure durability.
